We currently have a job opening for Gas Utility Operator Apprentice

G.L.D.C. is a community-owned cooperative providing natural gas services to its members. Based in Rimbey, we serve an area extending from the North Shore of Sylvan Lake northward, beyond Hwy 611, east to the Battle River, and west to Hwy 22, ensuring access to reliable natural gas service for our 3200 members.

Position:  Gas Utility Operator Apprentice

We are seeking a trustworthy and responsible person who is willing to work in both a team environment and independently in the role of Gas Utility Operator as an apprentice. Supporting our operations team with installation, and maintenance of our utilities’ infrastructure. We value employees who demonstrate a positive attitude and a commitment to excellence. Responsibilities

  • Installation of new gas services and secondary gas lines.
  • Manual labour, (IE: shovel work, heavy lifting and walking).
  • Operating heavy equipment, (mini-excavators, skid steers and dozers).
  • Locating underground facilities.
  • Operating and maintaining RMO Stations.
  • Changing out meters as part of our Industry Canada requirements.
  • Available to take on call in rotation with other field staff once trained.
  • Completion of all required reporting requirements.
  • All other duties as required

Requirements

  • Proficiency with digital devices and computers.
  • Written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • GED or high school equivalency.
